4 Common Carpet Cleaning Mistakes to Avoid

Whenever you see a stain on your carpet, it is almost impossible that you will not immediately grab whatever you can to clean the mess up, but before you do anything, you should first know the right thing to do. Not all cleaning methods are appropriate for carpet cleaning because carpets tend to be delicate. Using an incorrect method can cause the stain to become worse or even permanent.  Here are the mistakes you need to avoid when cleaning your carpet.

4 Common Carpet Cleaning Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Scrubbing immediately

Our natural reaction is to start scrubbing the carpet if something spilled on it, but this is something you must not do. Scrubbing leads to the carpet fibres unravelling which makes them distorted. You will be able to get rid of the stain one way or another, but you will not be able to restore the fibres unravelled by your scrubbing. The best thing to do is to first take a spoon and remove the liquid and then take a clean cloth to wipe it off and keep doing this until there is no moisture left before putting any stain remover on your carpet.

  1. Using just any cleaning solution

Not all cleaning solutions are good for your carpet.  When there is a stain on your table or any other solid surface, your first impulse is to take a surface cleaner to get rid of whatever stains you see. This is not something that you can just do on your carpet because the surface is more absorbent and not all cleaning solutions are good for your carpet. You should take time to check the labels of the products you buy and only buy those that are specifically for your carpet. You cannot interchange carpet cleaning solutions and hard surface cleaning products because they are labelled specifically for a reason.

  1. Putting too much cleaning solution

People usually think that it would be better if they put more cleaning solution on the carpet. This is a big mistake especially because the carpet is absorbent and there is a tendency for a lot of moisture to build up inside. This means it also takes more time before it gets completely dry and you will end up spending more money on your cleaning product without really increasing its efficiency and effectiveness. Always read the instructions before using it because putting too much can cause other problems.

  1. Not hiring professional cleaners

We usually think that home remedies are enough for our carpet even if the stain and the odour have gotten out of hand. When you have an expensive and delicate carpet, you need to hire professionals to do the job for you. Not all cleaning products and common knowledge are enough to ensure that your carpet is really clean. Professionals are there to help you.

When you have done all you can in cleaning your carpet, but the stain is still there, it is time to call our professional cleaners to schedule a visit to your home and get rid of the stains once and for all.
