Moving Timeline and Checklist

Moving Timeline and Checklist

Having a checklist will help you find out which items have been packed and which you still need to think about packing. Moving out can be stressful, and there is always a chance that you will forget something. It’s important that you’re reminded of all the things that you need to take with you, especially those you find valuable.  Here are our moving tips on your timeline and checklist:

Moving Timeline and Checklist

9 to 10 weeks before you move out

Make a checklist of all the things you’re taking with you. You also need to research about the community you’ll be transferring to and see if you will be able to get moving out packages that will make things easier for you. Find out where the nearest schools are, hospitals and other important establishments.

7 to 8 weeks before you move out

To lighten your load and bring only essential items, it’s always a good idea to sell or donate things that you will no longer use. Also, make sure that you have enough funds for moving even before you sell some of your stuff. Part of your to-do list is to also have your school records transferred, and your insurance company notified about what you’re going to do. You can also opt to make use of mover’s insurance.

4 to 5 weeks before you move out

Make a list of all the valuable items that you have. If you can’t bring them with you on moving day, you can ship them separately to your new place and make sure that they’re insured. Your travel arrangements need to be fixed. Let the people close to you know when and where you will be moving to. A reputable moving company is a better bet, but if you will be doing everything alone, have a lot of supplies for packing.

2 to 3 weeks before you move out

Contact service providers that you will need them when you move and the dates need to be confirmed.

1 to 2 weeks before you move out

Confirm with companies again about your plans to move out and the day you will need their services. Make sure that you have at least two weeks’ worth of medicines that you regularly take. Flammable items need to be disposed of as you cannot take them with you in moving vans. When it’s time for you to pack, take a look at the inventory sheet you wrote to double check everything.

These are the most important moving tips for you to become more efficient with your packing and moving. Always be prepared for anything and take all you need with you.
